Comments: Finally, my first image of Mars during the 2026-2027 apparition. It was taken July 8, 2026 at 14:13 UT. So, it was taken in full daylight at 70 degrees above the southern horizon near the central Meridian.
Through the 642nm filter, Mars' surface is clearly visible with Sabaeus Sinus and Meridiani Sinus dominate the view. Oxia is quite thick toward the western limb. It's mid-summer in the southern hemisphere and both polar regions look dull. Also, it is the middle of the dust storm season and the atmospheric condition is free of haze.
